SEO Beginner’s Guide Intro

What is SEO?

SEO increases the visibility in search engine results.  It affects rankings, website traffic, & search engine awareness.

What affects your SEO?

The structure of your website, the way other websites link to it, & the words used on your page. SEO shouldn’t be just for search engines but also about making it simple & easy to use for people.

Why is SEO needed?

Nowadays the main vehicle people use to find what they are looking for is google, bing, & yahoo. Even though social media helps, majority of people use websites like google to find what they are looking for.

What is unique about search engines?

Easy, they help people find what they are looking for. Example: the people that work at customer service at Walmart or Publix need to know about almost everything in the store so that when you ask a question they can help you find what you’re looking for, even if you don’t know what can help you solve your problem/issue.

What is a Search Query?

It is the words people type into a search bar to find what they are looking for. For example: in the google search bar you type “what are places to fish in Gainesville Florida?”, the words ‘Fish, ‘Gainesville’, & ‘Florida’ are very valuable in a search engine because they are not commonly used words. If you can get your website to optimize words that are specific & relevant to your business, then this will create exponential growth in your business & will give your company exposure & publicity.

Why is SEO Important?

Knowing all of the above, there is no point in having a great product or service if 1) no one knows about it & 2) no one can find it. A good analogy to why SEO is important: Like a guy stranded in a desert dying of thirst not knowing that over the hill there is a well full of pure water. SEO will help that guy find your living water. The guy gets his water… you get your business… everyone is happy… everyone wins.
